Stony Brook University is a part of the State University of New York (USA) 🇺🇸....It is an excellent university with a Wonderful campus. It has become an internationally recognized research institution So that is changing the world... Infrastructure Is Very Good..

Stony Brook University is a place staff and administration believe they are more important than faculties and graduate students. They are extremely unhelpful and literally useless. I honestly feel bad for myself and great people I am working with to have to deal with this people time to time. There is always construction but nothing is working properly. In summer AC has problems, in winter thermostats are not working. Travel reimbursement could take up to 6 months (consider university takes 3k of your money for 6 months), paper works always face problems and are delayed. University forces grad students each semester pay ~$900 for services they are not even using. The worst part is even faculty members and department heads cannot change many things and face even more obstacles for everything they do, so they end up leaving the university. University is going under, with a lot of debt they only can recruit young experienced new faculty members who would leave after a year or two. Dorms are extremely expensive, food prices are high and quality is low. Literally there is no amenities for students, even gym membership is more expensive than off campus options. The campus is beautiful, there are some good faculties here but the environment is super depressing and impair working motivation. If you are an international student, want to pursue your grad degree here, seriously reconsider. I can safely say my undergrad university in a "developing country" was much better than here from almost all perspectives.
