Applying for a home loan is a daunting process (at least for me), but working with Bob Greene could not have been a better experience. He was upfront about all the documentation that would be required and when to submit the information. Anytime I had a question, he was always available to provide a clear-cut answer that was easy to understand. His support in making sure my wife and I received the best loan rate was excellent. The simple fact that he even came to our closing to make sure we were represented and available to answer any final questions was the cherry on top. He is a superb man and a great loan officer.

The experience with Academy was painful. Our loan officer, Janell Stringfellow, left the company two weeks into the process, and I assume this is why it was so awful. We had a very straightforward mortgage, and we asked questions that weren't answered (or worse, answered incorrectly) until after we did the wrong thing, that would have saved us weeks of time. A "4 week process" was 10 weeks, through their inaction and lack of communication. No one would return our emails for days at a time. It turned out that everyone involved in the process went on vacation at some point or another during the time period, and usually that wasn't communicated until after they got back. None of the other employees would cover their case while they were gone, so we'd stall. Since our loan officer disappeared, I assume that's why we were low priority, despite the fact that they knew we had a rush timetable and we had gone with them on a guarantee of meeting that deadline. After working hours, we'd get emails from them telling us to do rush things like lock in our rate in 1.5 hours, after literal weeks of us asking for any update on the process, please. We'd find out after the fact that we got those emails, because we were eating supper, and we'd have another 48 hours of no answers. It was exhausting, but in the end they did in fact get everything done.
