After stringing me along for over a month they completely turned me down for a loan. I understand that they have good reasons for not approving people, but the reason they gave me they should have known from the beginning. Went to another mortgage bank and they had no problems, were able to close in 3 weeks, and gave me a 3.37 interest rate vs the 4.75 hometown offered. Very thankful I did not lose the house I made an offer on after having to push the closing date twice. I hate writing bad reviews, but definitely shop around.

I was disappointed in my experience with Hometown. No I was not turned down for a loan. I called after hearing their commercial on the radio. Their quote seemed high and I decided to shop around. Two other companies had lower rates and didn’t make me pay an origination charge. Do not be lazy, shop around.
