The experience with Aurora Financial was "just ok". We got a decent interest rate and we closed on time. However, their attention to detail is abysmal. For example: we got denied the mortgage two weeks before closing because they thought my husband's employment status was different than it was even though we provided them with a written work history and pay stubs. Luckily, it got sorted out and we were eventually approved, but it was very stressful at the time. Another example: We never got our final/updated closing disclosure before closing. Another example: they got our old address incorrect on the closing documents even though it was correct in every other instance we had corresponded with them about it (I checked to confirm before writing this review). A final example: I got an automated email several days after closing that was an advertisement to sign up for their newsletter and it contained the statement "I understand that you are not ready to move forward with a loan at this time." ... Really? Again, it was fine. We got the loan. We closed on the house. And now our mortgage is through a different company because they sold it immediately.

Aurora Financial was great to work with. They were very transparent, responsive and they listened to what I wanted and didn't make me feel pressured at all to make certain choices. Communication was great and everything went very smoothly. Additionally, they had the best rates of anyone...no one could beat them and I sourced numerous quotes. Highly recommended for service and value. I'm happy I used them to purchase my first home.
