I wish I could give them a zero. I had an insurance claim where my basement flooded with 4 inches of water. My insurance company was fast and awesome. However, they had to cut my checks out to myself and the mortgage company so they could dole out the payments to my contractors as the money was needed. I get it, no problem there. The problem started when they were not paying fast enough so I had to pay contractors out of pocket to get them paid. Now that everyone is paid, and the mortgage company did pay 2 of my contractors quick enough, just not the rest, I have a large amount of money left over which is being held hostage by Freedom Mortgage. They have said, and I have it in writing, that when I pass my home inspection after the work is complete that I would get the remainder of the money they are holding since the project is completed and the house is back to normal, or even better. I passed this inspection on the 6th of April and now they are still holding my money, $16,000.00 plus, and instead of releasing it within 2-3 business days like they said they would, they are still holding it today, 04/17/2019, and are saying they had to write corporate for permission to release the funds because it is so much money and are concerned I did not pay a contractor who may but a lean on my home. They have contacted my contractors and they have said they were all paid with no issues, yet they still are waiting another 7-10 business days. They are earning interest off my money, holding it hostage, and not letting me reimburse myself for paying other contractors and buy the furniture, electronics, and other man-cave items I had lost in the flooding. That is the real kicker here, it is money the insurance company gave me, mostly, which is for replacing my own personal items I lost in the flood, and repairing some books and such, yearbooks and whatnot. Yet they are holding it and not letting me have it back. I am refinancing my house now, something I did not want to ever do, with another company with better policies and customer appreciation. DO NOT GET A LOAN WITH THIS BANK, especially a home loan...they will make your loss in a situation like this 100 times more stressful and hurtful. I lost a lot of memories in the flooding and one of the clean up crew even stole from me during the demolition process, now Freedom Mortgage says they will keep my money for a few more weeks until they decide I can have it back after jumping through all their hoops and passing the inspection. Goodbye Freedom Mortgage, you really made a bad situation harder then it needed to be.
